Just Keep Swimming....

I love this saying and love the movie (Finding Nemo), it's a super cute way to say "Hang in There" and to give some encouragement.  I made this card with a freebie stamp and sentiment from The Alley Way Stamps, they are sponsoring the challenge over at Retro Sketch.  I haven't played  with Retro Sketch but love finding new sketch and challenge blogs (at least new to me).  So here is the sketch, and then my card

just keep swimming

I used paper from Cosmo Cricket-Snorkel line, the image is from Alley Way Stamps, I used a circle punch to create the border on the orange paper, colored with copics, used some glossy accents on the fish eye and done!!  I love that fish, it is so cute!

So............

Not going to get too down with this one, but a little vent to blow off some steam.

I'm coming to ya from the land of the Office, where co-workers fart and belch to their own contentedness  (not a word?  it's ok, it works for me) , where I suffer from flatassititus, boredom (but hey...so grateful to have a job :)   and where I am exercising patience EVERY HOUR of EVERY DAY with some of our fellow homosapiens, where I get asked questions like "where can I find 2x depends, because none of the retailers here carry them"....Um. IDK.  as I refer her back to the retailer, where a sweet little elderly lady wants me to stop the birds from pooping in her pool....uh, yeah, cuz I have magical mad skillz like that and can somehow just get them to STOP..STOP pooping in this sweet little old lady's pool you dang birds.  Where I can magically make all the cockroaches that are infesting a rental property disappear or determine if one of the local restaurants are using real eggs or eggs from a carton that are all blended together and look nothing like a "real egg".

  Schooooo..deep breath!!

I've got my Michael Buble' station going, just for the calming affect it has in this sometimes crazy stressful office.  And, then the reason I am bloggin from Office....my computer decided to get all infected and poop out on me.....and that for some reason has me more stressed out than all of the above put together.  Does anyone else freak out when you are without your computer for several days?  Is that a sign that I spend WAY too much time dinkin around blogland?  Hmmm..don't answer that!

Anyway, like I said, just blowin some steam, hoping and crossing fingers that I will have my pc back either tonight or tomorrow. (crossing fingers and praying my guts out!)  Pathetic?  A little, but I'm ok with that!! ;)

Have a fairy good day!

Before I get to my card today, I just wanted to make note of my weekend.  I use this blog mostly for scrappy/crafty stuff, but also want to document life as well.  We had the chance to drive up to Northern Utah-Logan, for my step-daughters wedding.  It was at the Logan temple and the day was perfect.  With the higher elevation and being up the canyon, I really thought the day would be nice and a little cooler. It was HOT, and didn't cool down until we got back into Salt Lake where we had nice  dark clouds and a cool breeze.

Here is a pic of my step-daughter and her new husband.  I totally love their shoes!!  They are such a cute couple!!  The day was a little bittersweet as we were missing my youngest step-daughter who is in Cedar Sinai hospital, she has been very sick for over a month and they transported her from Vegas to California about a week ago, hopefully they will help her get better, but so far it seems like everything they try to do for her doesn't work.  It was a beautiful, special day, but we missed her being there with us.

Totally cute shoes

Ok, on to my card.  I used this darling fairy image from Di's Digi's and then the sketch for our challenge over at Critter Sketch, here is the sketch by Colleen Spangler.  It was a lot of fun to work with!

I colored with copics,  butterflies are from my Martha Stewart punch, added gems, stickles, and glossy accents, did some outline work with black and white and then used my scrap pattern paper.  I haven't decided on a sentiment yet, will wait until I have the perfect use for this card.  Thanks for stopping by and if you got this far, thanks for reading!! ;)

Rainy Days

are my favorite days, we have had clouds, thunder and lightening storms, and rain for the past three days which are desperately needed, Utah has been on fire all month, it's been super dry and windy.  I think at one point there were 8 different fires burning at once across the state. SCARY.   There have been a couple in Southern Utah as well, so it's a blessing to get the rain.

What does that have to do with my card today?  Just that it has this cute duck standing in the rain!!  The card is for the Card Cupid challenge which is WINGS, this cute image is from Wings and Willows and is a lot of fun to color up, you should go check out Wings and Willows etsy shop, Rebecca has a lot of cute images to choose from.

I used the sketch from JUST ADD INK and tweaked it just a little bit. I used pattern paper from my stash, actually, everything was from my stash...I love that! I used two sizes of brads because I didn't have four of the same size....I guess ya have to improvise sometimes.  :)

I colored the image with copics, cut out and embellished the scalloped circle (Spellbinders) and used some ribbon that I've had for awhile. I found the quote online, not sure who the author is, but loved it!  Then I just added some color and sentiment to the inside to finish it off!  Hope you like it, and hope you come join our challenge over at CARD CUPIDS!!

You simply SPARKLE!!

My card this week for the Critter Sketch Challenge is based on the colors in this picture from Design-seeds.com.  I love these colors, not only for the patriotic reason, but blue has always been my favorite color.
PatrioticHues515

My card is super simple, last week was a little crazy with time, work and travel. My husband and I spent the fourth of July in Las Vegas at the hospital visiting his  16 year old daughter. She's been in there now for almost 3 weeks and isn't really getting better, so needless to say, we've been quite concerned about her. We are waiting to hear back about some test results, but in the meantime she is fighting several infections and isn't able to keep food down. I think any chance we get, we will be heading to Vegas to spend time with her and of course, are praying for her recovery.

Ok, like I said...simple card. The image is a Whimsie Doodle digi stamp, which went perfect with the sentiment which is a Unity Stamp. I thought these went perfectly together for a card not necessarily used in conjunction with the fouth of July......it could be used for a girl card of any kind. I think this would also be perfect to send to someone who is in need of happy mail, or someone that has accomplished something hard, made a sports team, dance team, passed a hard test or met any goal that took a little extra effort.

My blues are a little off from the picture, but I was down to a deadline trying to get this done and didn't have time to go shopping.  I inked the edges, colored with copics, added stickles and a gem to the sparklers, the red border is from Doodlebug and I've had it for a long time...love using from my stash! I added white dots, black lining and glossy accents on the star on her shirt.  Super simple and super easy!

Hope you all have a great Monday and don't forget to head over to Critter Sketch Challenge Blog to link up your creation!

Just a little Note

Doing a drive by post...a quickie, a fast one.... my husband has been in the house all day and is bored to death and I usually sit on the computer for a little bit after work, but I told him I'd be 5 minutes and be done for the night, going to go get an ice cream or shake!

I put this card together just using scraps!  Gotta love that!  I've had that butterfly stamp for over a year now and just barely used it...I think it turned out pretty cute!

Card Cupids Challenge

The July 1st challenge is up over at Card Cupids, it's a fun, easy one!

Use ribbon, twine, or washi tape......if you are anything like me, you have several rolls of washi tape just begging to be used.  I tend to collect supplies and then hang on to them, I don't know...for fear of using them and running out??!! HA!  So dust off that precious ribbon, twine, tape, whatever you might be hoarding and put them to good use!! Get those cards made and then if you feel so inclined...send them in to Card Cupids and to a child in need of some happy mail. It will make you happy too!! :D

Here is the card I made, our sponsor is Stamping Boutique. I love this little ballerina, so cute and could be used with many different sentiments.  I have SHINE on the front of the card and I will add something inside before I send it, depending on if it's for a birthday or just a pick me up.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you come play with our challenge over at Card Cupids!

Happy Sunday to everyone!

My card was based on this sketch from +Papertake Weekly challenge #69, and I just flipped it.
