Enjoy your day!

Of course, if I have a book in hand I can always enjoy my day!

Come join us at Little Miss Muffet Stamps for a new challenge, the theme is to Use a Favorite LMMS image, well I love anything that is whimsical and anything that is fairytalish/fantasy themed, and of course anything to do with books.

I used Polka Dot Pals Lirienne image for my card and made the inside a pocket for a gift card to a book store.  I just got a gift card to Barnes & Noble and bought a book last night, so I know for my book loving friends, this card will be perfect!

Christmas Train

Christmas is almost here and this is the only Christmas decor that I have out, except for the one little flower bunch to the right.  I have no desire to decorate and honestly don't have the space now that my table that once held my little 4' tree now has a tv on it.  So, this little 4x4 wooden block with this adorable Christmas/Winter train will be my only decor for the year.

I sized the images bigger so they would fit on the wooden block and I colored using copics.  I added a little dimension on the wheels with enamel accents and used some distress ink in Tumbled Glass around the edges. I used the Linking Train Winter and the Linking Train Winter Cars these are so fun to play with!

Come see us over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and join us with our new challenge of HOLIDAY CHEER     there are tons of new, cute, fun, adorable images in the store and you've got two weeks to join our challenge, we would love to see what you create!!

My Hero

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the United States, I hope you are enjoying your day, your traditions, your family and yummy food!

I went a little bit different on the Thank You card/Give Thanks theme over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps, this cupcake image Super Star Cupcake reminds me of a super hero and I have a few of those in my life that I felt this would be perfect for.  This will go to my dad as I feel so lucky and grateful to have him in my life.

My dad has always been my hero and right now at this time as we celebrate our first Thanksgiving without my mom (she passed away last month from ALS) he shows what it is like to have a quiet courage and strength to move forward. He mourns her absence everyday and his heart is hollow, but he still reaches out in service to others. He helps because that's just who he is. He doesn't give himself any credit and never feels quite good enough, but he doesn't see himself through others eyes, and he has been a blessing and a hero to many.  He is a perfect example of what a loving husband looks like and while he is hurting and sad, he knows my mom is in a better place, free from her tired and sick body and I know that gives him comfort, he knows he will see her again some day and I know that gives him strength to carry on.  They were married 47 years and she left us way too soon as I'm sure many others feel the same who have lost loved ones.

My prayer for anyone who is missing a loved one or feeling alone to know that they are truly NEVER alone.  I believe in angels and I believe that God loves everyone of us and I pray for comfort and peace for any who are in need.  I know my mom is watching over us, I have felt her near me at times and have felt her love, a little soul hug when I most needed it.  My emotions are close to the surface at this time and while I normally don't share, I felt that I wanted to.  I haven't really written my feelings down yet about my mother and her passing, just this little blip, I will go more in depth, but in my personal journal.  At this time, I hope you are all surrounded by peace and comfort and know that each and everyone of us are heroes too..... :)

The inside says Thank You.....forgot to take pic, it's one of the rare ones that I actually decorated the inside as well!

Birthday wishes

So, I don't usually do many male cards and not from a little boy to his father, or for a father with a little boy but this image is perfect for an occasion like that and I just couldn't resist using this darling image! I totally LOVE his plaid pants!!   This image is from LMMS and is called Spencer and Oscar you can find it HERE.

The ONE FOR THE BOYS challenge is still going on over at LITTLE MISS MUFFET STAMPS, so come over and join us!!

I colored the image with copics, first I did all the fur and then used the colorless copic blender on part of a fuzzy sock to dab on for texture on the fur.  I either didn't do it right or should have masked the image with miskit, cuz the brown colors bled into the actual image and I had to go to work with the colorless blender marker over and over and over to save the image.  I've seen the technique done before but probably should have brushed up before, oh well...live and learn!

The sentiment is from Your Next Stamp called Whatnot Sentiments Four

Here are the colors I used
E49 47 44 43
E37 35 33 31
B99 97 95 93
YG67 63 61 03
YR68 17 15 02

I also used some pattern paper from my stash, I've had it for so long that I don't know the manufacturer, but thought it was perfect for a manly card and added staples as well.

I hope you like it and will come join us at Little Miss Muffet Stamps!

I colored with my copics, glossy accented up the teacup and the toothbrush, added circles from MFT dies and the enamel dots are from Your Next Stamp and added some white line doodles.

Come on over and join us for your chance to win a gift voucher and to just have fun!!

A Fairy Happy Hello!

Isn't this little fairy just the cutest and dontcha just love cute little fairies?  I sure do!  I love all things whimsical, fantastical, mythical and just plain cute-ical.....yeah, I tend to mash up words and sometimes don't make a lick of sense, but that's ok, I accepted my weirdness a long time ago!  ;)

This little one is called Swings N Slides Fairy and you can find her over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps.
I went out of my comfort zone with this and actually watercolored the whole thing, the image and the background. I used distress ink and watercolor paper from Ranger, after adding the blue and green, I spritzed the whole thing with water and then added some brown spatters as well.   I like how it turned out, but definitely need to practice with the watercolors!
I also used the Hello stamp from the Alley Way Stamps, Wink of Stella on the wings (although it's really hard to see) and added some white dots around her wings and her necklace and a little ribbon and bow......  I can definitely see myself using this image over and over again!

I hope you like it and will come join us for the current challenge over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps, the theme is HOT SUMMER NIGHT.
