Sending Oceans of Love

I just love this beach stamp set from Sugar Pea Designs called Seaside Wishes, it has the cutest image and several versatile sentiments from birthday, to friendship, to celebration and encouragement.  I used the sketch and the color challenge over at Sugar Pea Designs and came up with this card.

I am sending this to someone that really needs the soul lift and to know that she is loved.  I hope you enjoy it and check out SPD for some really fun stamps!!

To color is to restore a little bit of sanity...

I know that some people unwind, relax, restore, & maintain their sanity in many different ways.  Heck, I wish I could do all that with exercise, that would solve the problem of needing to lose 20+ lbs and getting me off my behind, (I have an office job and sit ALL day long) , but NOPE, my way to destress, is to lock myself in my room with a book or with  my markers.

I've been taking a couple classes over at Kit N Clowder from Alyce and have really enjoyed the creative process, learning new techniques and playing with my copics...( dang those suckers aren't cheap, and I tend to want them all)!!  Anyway, I'm just adding a few of my coloring projects, I don't know what I will do with them...I don't want to put them on a card,  maybe I will choose a canvas, or maybe just frame them, I'm not sure.

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, and while I enjoy creating and coloring, these take some time and my hand gets tired by the time I'm done...AND that is when I go bury myself in a book!

Just a little look at what coloring looks like from a grown up perspective...still fun, still relaxing, maybe a little more detail, techniques and expense, but I say it's worth it.  My sanity is definitely worth it!!

Believe

[E]very time a child says, "I don't believe in fairies," there is a fairy somewhere that falls down dead. ~James Matthew Barrie, Peter Pan

I believe in fairies, I do, I do.  I believe in fairies, I do, I do.

I have always had a love for all things in the fantasy realm.  Dragons are a favorite, fairies and elves too.  LOTR is my all time fav movie and I just can't get enough.  I have devoured book after book, watched movies, collected statues...all because of my love of fantasy.  I'm not sure why I'm drawn to it so much, maybe it's the imagination, the admiration, the sheer sense of pleasure I get when I watch a movie, read a book, or find a piece to add to my collection.  I've often wondered why......is it that I wish I had the grace and skill of a woodland elf?  Wish that I could communicate and ride on the back of a dragon?  I don't know, maybe a little bit of it all!

So because of my love of fantasy, I have a growing collection of stamps, some digital, some from rubber and I decided to put this little cutie on a canvas where I can put her in my crafty space and look at her all the time.  She is from Some Odd Girl and you can find her HERE.

This is my first canvas, I really didn't know what I was doing, if there is a method, or what...so I just played around with stuff I had and think she turned out pretty cute!

Supplies:
Canvas
gelatos
distress paint-mermaid lagoon
tim holtz stencils
doily
Tim Holtz tissue paper
gesso
multi medium matte
texture paste
sequins

I adhered tissue paper with multi medium, put a wash of gesso and then started adding gelatos for color.  The texure paste I colored in purple and green using my copic refills and mixing well, then used stencils for interest and texture.
Then I just kept adding a little color here and there, splattered some white and grey paint and then adhered sequins and added the little fairy!  Hope you like her and if you are looking for some super cute fairy images, check out Some Odd Girl!
