Let's Chat

I used SKdigis Talking Bird image to create this fun card.  The card base is from Studio G that I picked up at Michaels. I colored the bird with copics, the flower and flower center is a SVG cut from My Scrap Chick, I covered the base with washi tape, embossed the flower and inked it with orange ink...it's kinda hard to see, for some reason it didn't photograph well... I printed out the sentiment...think Verizon commercial and added some ribbon. Believe me, it looks better in person! ;)

Just a reminder to mark this fun blog hop on your calendars!!

Sketch Challenge at Critter Sketch

Our sponsor over at Critter Sketch for August is Digi Doodle Shop which is where this adorable dragon came from.  I totally LOVE dragons, mystical creatures, fairy tales and anything in that genre.  That's why I couldn't turn down the chance to use another cute Louis image.  Just love him!

I colored with copics, used my silver glitter pen for his net, toes, and scales. The punched butterflies are from my Martha Stewart punch and just added some bling.  Also added primas and brads, some ribbon and matted it all on paper in my scrap stash.  The pink words are from Cosmo Cricket-Tiny Type.  I'm giving this card to my mom, she just had a birthday!  Happy Birthday MOM!! :)

A Parade of Hippos and a crazy week!

This past week has been a little busy/crazy....Steve and I went to LA to visit his daughter in the hospital, we ended up getting lost twice on the way to our hotel at 10 at night. We ended up in downtown LA caught in the maze of high rises and backstreets, then  we finally got to our hotel.........(seriously we were bordering Compton......not a great place  & I'm never letting Steve book our hotel again) by the time we got to the hotel, my nerves were so shot and I was so uptight I thought I'd never get to sleep, but coming down from that adrenaline rush must have wiped me out, cuz I slept really good.  The hotel was really bad, I mean bad, and that's all I'm going to say...I'm still trying to block that memory out!    Then the difficult stay with my step-daughter, watching her as sick as she is and then two days later having to leave, talk about hard.  Plus, that LA traffic is a nightmare, we almost got hit for serious twice and had some close calls several other times.  I was so grateful to get home and out of that rat race.

Back home we got right into school registration, class changes, school shopping and all the time I was just wanting to carve out some space and time to sit and create.  I finally got that time and finished up these cute cards!

I made several cards using the Happy Hippo image from SKdigis, they are all about the same style & design, but with a few differences on each one.  I paper pieced the hippo and either put googly eyes on some, or traced and cut out white ones and put a drop of black enamel accents for the center of the eye.  I cut the water and the bushes from Create a Critter-accessories for the hippo, all was matted on kraft, then black, then another color.  I printed out the sayings and used HUGE or TON in the sentiment...anything using those words are perfect for a Hippo!!!  I used my grey copic C7 to color in the ears, mouth, toes, and spots, then added white line detail with my white pen from Ranger.  I added ribbon, flowers, photo corners and finished the inside with a coordinating strip of paper with another bush or two.  So......here they are, six in all!!

I love how they turned out, and how stinkin cute is that hippo!!    Please go check out SKdigis for some fun digital stamps and backgrounds!

Round it Up...Critter Sketch Challenge

Our challenge over at Critter Sketch is "Round it Up" we want to see circles!  Our sponsor is Digi Doodle Shop and I chose to use this darling dragon (love dragons) picking daisies, one of my favorite flowers!!  I embossed the grey paper with my an embossing folder to give the feel of dragon scales, colored with copics, used some primas and brads and then ribbon, I love this dragon and can't wait to color up another one!  Please join our challenge, stop over at Digi Doodle Shop and browse all their wonderful images, I'm sure there is something there that will catch your eye!

A little note about our sponsor!
Digi Doodle Shop is the results of a mother and daughter’s love for the arts and crafts. It was started a little over 3 years ago with a little more than 100 stamps, and has since then grown to almost 500 stamps. Joy (the mother of this team) designs realistic images, while Judy (aka/daughter) loves the “fun side of life”, and create images with a cartoon flair. Having these two complimenting styles have enabled Digi Doodle Shop to offer a wide variety of stamps.
It is a real honor and pleasure to sponsor this challenge, and we look forward to seeing all the amazing creations. We thank the design team for their incredible creations, and wish all the participants the very best of luck in this challenge.
Thank you so much for having us, and again the very best of luck to all of you.
Sincerely,
Judy and Joy

Hope you join our challenge and show off those circles!!  Can't wait to see what you make!

Card Cupid Challenge-Birthday cards for kids

This challenge our sponsor is Fresh Brewed Designs, I chose to work with the Fairy Sweet image. I LOVE all things fantasy, medieval and mystical, I even have a collection of dragon figures and the dragon statue from Dragonheart.  I love The Lord of the Rings and am really looking forward to The Hobbit. I love reading that genre of books and am kind of a geek/dork when it comes to wizards, elves, knights, fairies, dwarves, etc...I fully accept that!! ;)
Anyway here is my card, colored with copics, glittered the mushroom spots, glossy accents on the heart, used the Party charm from my stash. Used some scrap papers for the borders and die cut the image with spellbinders and my cuttlebug.
I added some of the same elements with the paper borders on the inside. I think this little fairy is just adorable!
