Break Ups Suck!
Nothing crafty today, just a little ramble about life.
Break ups.....well, they sometimes really suck! When I was younger I went through plenty of broken hearts and hated having to break up with someone. As an adult and after my divorce I hated dating....HATED it, I hated going through my story over and over again, knowing that most likely this person and I wouldn't have a second or third date. So, I tended not to date much, which was fine with me....I'm an introvert and don't have any problem with alone time and my space, however yes, it did get lonely over those 9 years. Some of the break ups were a blessing and some took awhile to get over.
This last break up, isn't even mine and I'm having a hard time getting over it. This break up was my daughter and her boyfriend.
They were so cute and had a couple bucket list that they would check off things as they completed....like decorating the Christmas tree, making cookies together, kissing in the rain (snow), fun things like that!
The break up was her decision....she is a senior and off to college next year, he is a junior and still has more high school. She wants to date different people.....which I totally understand and encourage her to do....but dang, I didn't realize how much I would miss him/them together. I know she is fine, but he is heart-broken and so I feel for him and worry about him, and hope in time he will get over his anger and hurt and be open to dating and having fun again. Honestly, right now they are too young for something serious to happen anyway. It just sucks that there are casualties and broken hearts along the way. :(
Has anyone else had a hard time with their child's break-up??? If so please share a comment so I know I'm not the only one and not a complete weirdo! I know I can be weird, but I don't want to be completely weird! ;)

Books are Treasure!
I made this bookmark with an image from Some Odd Girl, named Pirate Kaylee, I colored her with a Color Along that Kristy does usually on Wednesdays. I had to keep her simple and pretty flat, I'm going to laminate it so she is more durable. I found the perfect quote online and was even happier that it is a Walt Disney quote!
The quote says "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island"
LOVE it!!
I used a tag for the main part and then added more to the bottom to make it longer, this fits the challenge over at Some Odd Girl to use a tag.

Snowboy, Snow Day!!
Happy Friday everyone, thought I would share a card I made in celebration of winter! I used an SKdigis image called SNOWMAN BOY, colored with copics, all paper came from my stash, as did the snowflake stickers and photo corners. I'm not sure of a sentiment yet. Hope ya like him, I think he is adorable!!
I know some of you in certain parts of the country are tired of the snow, the cold, the shoveling, defrosting, frozen limbs, noses and toes, and for that I can only say, please be careful and try to stay warm!
I live in the desert where if it does snow it doesn't stick very often and maybe once every couple years we actually get snow at all. Well, this past December we had the biggest snow storm our area has seen in about 100 years. Seriously, it shut our little town down! We are not equipped for snow that sticks....at all, and it froze, so the town and people were told to pretty much stay home unless absolutely necessary to drive. Plus, alot of people just don't know how to drive in these kind of conditions. We even had a snow day ......for church!!!! I know this is laughable for those who are burried under 6 feet of snow, but for us desert rats, it was an experience we haven't really had before.
It was absolutely gorgeous!
Ash and her boyfriend had a little snowball fight and she wrote out this cute message!
Anyway, I wanted to share my card and document our Snow Day!!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

New Arrivals
I have a couple of cards to share using a new digi from SKdigis, it is the New Arrival-Stork With Baby and you can find it HERE. Isn't this the cutest? I say that about a lot of Sonia's images, but she really does have super cute stuff!! I did a boy and girl card, and kept them really simple. I colored with copics, embossed with spellbinders and then used distress ink, embossed the white cardstock at the bottom, used a button, some twine and some ribbon, the banners were hand cut and the sentiment is from a sentiment stamper that I've had for YEARS!
Hope you like them and if you need a baby card, this stork is perfect!

To a Deer Friend
I wanted to share this cutie little Reindeer from SKdigis with you all, I think it is just too stinkin cute! I based the card from an older sketch from Seize the Sketch #4, colored with copics and added some white dots with white enamel accents. Used a tag, twine, gems, the stars and scallop borders are cut files and now I cant remember which files they came from......I really need to get better at keeping track of what I use! The gems were white that I colored with my copics to match the blue and orange. I hope you like! :)

Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenge #1
Hi my bloggy friends!! I hope 2014 is starting off fabulously and that you had a wonderful Christmas/Holiday season!
I would like to invite you to check out our first challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun! Head over to see what we are all about and join in the fun! We will be having a new challenge every other Saturday, 4 sponsors for each challenge and each DT member will choose their favorite project.
Our first challenge is to use a new technique or new toys/tools that Santa may have left under the tree! Me...I am my own Santa and tend to buy my own gifts, the husband did help though with a couple of gift cards! Yay him!!
So here is my card using the darling image FLORA from Crafty Sentiments. I used a mixed media technique that I haven't tried before, I bought some new Tim Holtz tissue paper, gelatos and a couple Distress Paint daubers. I adhered the tissue paper to the cardstock with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium in matte finish. Covered the whole area with Broken China distress paint, used a baby wipe to wipe most of it off and then adhered everything and did another coat with the multi-medium to give it a surface that I could shade with the gelatos and use my finger to smooth it out (holy run-on sentence!). I used some stickers from Simple Stories Vintage Bliss collection, a couple flowers, button, twine and white enamel accents for the dots on the letters. It was a super fun technique and I will be doing more of this, but probably in an art journal.
Check out our WONDERFUL sponsors and the prizes they are offering:
A Day For Daisies-3 images
Eureka Stamps-5 images
Crafty Sentiments Designs-3 images
MilkCoffee Digital Designs-5 images
Come on over and check out what the other DT members have created and join us for a chance to win!!
