You Did It!!

I made a couple of graduation cards, one for my friend to give to her nephew and one for my daughter's friend who is graduating and heading for the Naval Academy clear on the other side of the states. She's pretty sad to see him go, and I'm pretty impressed that he's going into the naval academy.  They promised each other that when he graduates, if she's not married, he'd look her up and take her out.  That will be a few years, but ya never know what will happen in the meantime.

On the inside of one card I made a pocket to slip some money into and the other one, I just decorated the inside to finish it up and make it look nicer.

The digi stamp was a freebie from Jaded Blossom, I used paper from my stash and the tag card was from Studio G that I picked up from Michael's. I punched the stars and the stamps were from Inkadinkado-Best Wishes collection.

I am entering the following challenges:

You Make My Heart Sing

I've been wanting to play with this sketch over at Sketches by Carly challenge  #56 for the past couple weeks and just barely got it done and just in time before the challenge closes. Everything I used was from my stash. I used punches, a die cut, rub-on letters, gems that I colored red with my copics, and tiny type letters.

I am also entering into Aud Sentiment Challenge -any sentiment
Penny's Paper Challenge -Anything Goes

I love using sketches, they are a starting point for the creative process, and like the sketches, you can keep it simple or more detailed.

Ok.....back to my Merlin marathon....Yes, I'm a total geek/dork with my tv shows  and LOVE anything medieval or having to do with wizards, knights, damsels in distress, but love it more when the damsels can actually weld a sword and take care of themselves!! ;)

Happy Thursday!

On my mind

I made this card last night using my unity tree stamp, black embossing powder, my fiskers border punch, polka dot ribbon, butterfly punch and some gems, it's hard to see but I also dry embossed a panel of white underneath the black and yellow.  The sentiment is a rub-on from Pebbles

This card fits the challenge over at Dynamic Duos

Friendship

I got this adorable digi stamp from The Paper Shelter, they have some super cute images, and I chose the mermaid because my daughter absolutely loves anything to do with mermaids.  I colored her with copics, used stickles on her starfish and on her tail, I used glossy accents on some of the water, used some sea themed charms from my stash, distressed the paper a little bit and added the pelican .  I think she is adorable and have a special friend that I will be sending this to.  I used the sketch from Mojo Monday, but didn't get it done in time to enter the challenge.

I am going to enter the following challenges:
+Paper Playtime Friendship card with sentiment
+Sentimental Sunday-whimiscal
+Crafty Catz- Lets hear it for the girls
                                                           + Gingerloft- under the sea

Sweet Sunday and a challenge

I love Sundays, except for the fact that Monday comes next, but for the most part, I love the more relaxed feel of the day, the after church nap, the time to just reflect on life, scrap a little, journal a little, do the things that I don't normally get done on the other days.  If I could make the time on Sunday slow W.....A......Y down, that would be even better!!

Anyway, on this Sunday, I made a card for a couple challenges.  I used a doodlebug card base, punched a heart into the card and layered black cardstock behind it, I also used the "you are Loved" stamp that I got at the dollar bin at Michael's, punched out a few more hearts and added ribbon.  This was quick and easy and I love when quick and easy happen!!!

I am entering this into the challenge over at The Paper Players  &  CAS-ual Fridays

and here is my card!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!!  :)

You're Special

I made this card based on the color challenge over at The Paper Players and the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and also for the challenge of Flowers over at Critter Challenge blog

I wish now that I had matted each individual panel, but was distracted too much last night and was trying to craft quietly while the husband was trying to nap before a grave shift.  Do you know how hard it is to be quiet while trying to create something????   It's pretty dang hard!  I would have matted the banner too.  I'm going to make a couple more like this and matte the panels and banner....I think I will like it better!!

You still have a little bit of time to play with these challenges, so go.....play!! ;)

21 YEARS

Mothers Day, 21 years ago, this beautiful boy came into my life.  I fell in love immediately.  He has been a joy and a blessing everyday since he was born.  I can't believe he is now 21.  The time goes by faster than you think and before you know it, children grow up and become adults themselves.  It is a priveledge and honor to be his mom and he was the best Mother's Day gift ever!!

I absolutely love this picture ^  he was about 14 months old and had just been swimming, he had on little blue and black checkered speedos and was the cutest thing ever!!

Now....not so little and in fact legally an adult...but he's still cute!!

He definitely keeps us laughing and has a great sense of humor....he totally photobombed this picture of my parents perfectly!!

Our recent trip to Disney, a great time spent with family....gotta love family time and the memories created!!

Happy Birthday Jordan, love you much!!!

Dynamic Duos and the Happiest Place on Earth

So...it's Saturday morning and I've got a couple of exciting things going on today!

1)  There is a new challenge blog called Dynamic Duos making their debut today.  This is a weekly card challenge and here is how they are breaking up by week. I got this right from their blog.

The challenge is divided into weekly "themes"...

Week 1-Bold and Sassy-bright, happy colours

Week 2-Subtly Yours-soft, romantic colours

Week 3-Black Tie-one colour plus black and a dessert option

Week 4-Monochromatic-same colours in different hues (light/dark)

Week 5-Mix and Match-we choose one colour and you add the other colour to ours to create your own "Dynamic Duo".

I'm excited about this blog because first..it sounds like a ton of fun playing with the "themes" each week, and second because I'm the guest designer for their very first challenge!!!  They held a facebook contest to see which colors would be the first used and they picked mine!!!

Here is the challenge button...how cute is that!!!

And here are a couple pictures of the card/gift card holder that I made. I used lime green and aqua and then neutrals of black and white. I'm really excited to be the first guest designer and I know I will be playing along with these challenges on a regular basis.  You all should go check out them out over at Dynamic Duos and play along with them!

2) In little less than an hour, we are heading south....all the way to the California Coast!!  My sister and her family, me and the husband and my kids, and our parents are renting a house in Huntington Beach for the week.  I'm so looking forward to a few days with a beautiful change of scenery (beach) and for fun (Disneyland)  I think I'm not going to want to come home!!

Happy Weekend to ya'll. :D

Friday, May 4, 2012

It's Friday...Friday, gotta get down on Friday..

looking forward to the weekend, weekend. Ok..so it's really annoying how that song pops into my head whenever Friday rolls around.  It's cruel actually, cuz once it's in my head, it takes FOREVER to get it out.

Anyway, I'm loving this Friday. I have the day off of work..YAY!!  I've made a couple cards, and I'm getting for vacation. Yep, it's been four years since I've been on anything resembling a vacation and I'm beyond needing a change of scenery.  So, where are we going....

"I'm goin back to Cali, Cali, Cali, yeah I'm goin back to Cali......yeah ya'll..I don't think so"   song lyrics LL Cool J.  Gotta LOVE LL!!!

So hitting the beach Sat...relaxin on Sunday and heading to the Happiest Place on Earth for Monday and Tuesday!!!  We will be coming home on Wed, but my sister and her family and my parents will stay until the following Sat.  We have to come home early cuz Ash can't miss anymore school...this will already put her in restitution, but I think under the circumstances, it's well worth it.

Ok, got tons to do and hoping to find time later to scrap one more card, but here are the two that I did get done.

This one is for the challenge over at BBTB2 where the theme is ladybug or bee, and here is my card for that challenge.

And this one is for the CAS-ual Friday Challenge which is Happy Birthday, they are celebrating their 1st birthday today and have this fun challenge to celebrate.  This one  I did really simple, rolled up some pattern paper for the candles and punched the flames out with my leaf punch.

Ok..I'm outta here for now, got lots to do.  Hope you all have a great Friday!!! I've got to go listen to some music to get that dang song outta my head................. :/

Critter Sketch Challenge #113

I used this sketch over at Critter Sketch Challenge to make this card.  I used these cute clear Snag 'em stamps from Imaginisce and stamped up a bunch of sea critters. I used aqua, orange, black and white, used my border punch from Fiskers, some ribbon, some stickles and added some stitching.  I really like the color combination and think the black really helps it stand out.  I think those little sea creatures are just too dang cute!!

Thinking of you

This card is based on this sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  I used a chipboard flower from Bo Bunny's Sophie collection, and tried to compliment the colors on the flower.  I added butterflies and gems, and kept it real simple.  You should head over and play with their sketches.........go on, you know you need some crafting time!!!  ;)    I actually got to come home early from work today and started crafting early..YAY for more crafting time!  :D

I am also entering this card into the following challenges

Paper Playtime-Anything Goes

Senior Ball

Just a few pictures from Senior Ball to mark the occasion.  We shopped last minute for a dress and was lucky to find one that was the right size and that Ash loved.  I heard her say to her friends when she was all dressed with hair and makeup done that she felt like Cinderella.....cute girl!!
