Have a Nice Day!

Here is a  card I made for the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays blog.  The challenge was to create a CAS project based on a song.  At first I thought wow...this is kinda tough, but then I started going through the bands and songs that I like and there is a ton of inspiration from songs.  One of my fav bands is Bon Jovi and the Have a Nice Day song is perfect for a sentiment!  Even though the song kinda has a "shove it, I'm gonna live my life my way" feel to it, the sentiment is nice and thoughtful!   I used the freebie digi stamp from Bugaboo and embossed some scrap paper, the pink strip is washi tape and I've just started playing with it...(FUN!!!), then I printed out the sentiment and inked it up.  Hope you like it!

I'm also entering the Paper Sundaes challenge -Spring Blossoms+
and CAtch the Bug -spring/Easter

My Ash got asked to Senior Ball at high school the other night, the kid who asked her must have a lot of guts, because Ash's friend told him she didn't want to go at all, with anyone ......and he went ahead and asked anyway!  Here is how he asked, he left this on our front doorstep.

She had to open the eggs and put together the puzzle that had the message and his name in it.  I told her she couldn't say no to someone that had the guts and took the time to ask. Plus, I know his parents and he is a good kid and comes from a good family. So....dress shopping again, not sure how I feel about that, hopefully we can find something without it costing a small fortune!  ;)

My weekend so far has been nice and relaxing, doing some crafting, watching some conference (church related) and hanging out in blogland.  Hope you all have a great weekend, and if ya get the chance to craft you should check out the CAS-ual Fridays challenge!   :D

This is how happy I am that it's Friday!

The shark.....even though he is smiling.  It's only 9:30 in the morning on Friday, so he's still a tad bit grumpy, a little irked that he is sitting in the office for 8 hours on a nice sunny, spring day.

The puppy..he's a little happier, because once lunch hits, the work day is almost over, the end is near, he can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

And this adorable little guy is so giddy because it's 5:00, quitting time, the golden moment of the day when the timecard gets punched, the computer gets shut down, keys are a jangling and people are heading for the door to start their weekend.  Whooo hooooo....time to PAR-TAY!!!

Not that I will actually do any partying this weekend....actually I don't really party at all. None..nada, but hey...anytime that I'm not at work, I feel like this little guy and that is a good thing!!

I hope you all have a great and wonderful weekend.  Have fun, sit in the sun, hike, craft, whatever ya do, I hope you enjoy it and are safe!

Paper Sundaes DT call deadline is April 4th.  I thought I would apply and am using these 3 cards to show my style.   I made a commitment to myself to scrap more and be more creative, I think this would be a really fun way to do so.  Anyway, ya can't gain something if you don't take risks, wish me luck!! ;)

Hoppy Easter

I made this card for a couple different challenges. I played with my Cricut and made the base and frame from the Accent Essentials cartridge and then embossed the frame with the dot folder.  The image is Easter Scene from Bugaboo, I cut the grass with these super cool scissors that have several blades, (thanks Steph) made a little banner, put it on a toothpick and pop dotted it.  I also used some twine.  I am entering the following challenges:

Sentimental Sundays-Easter or Spring with a sentiment+

CARDZ TV: Frame It

Fab 'n' Funky- Easter+

Penny's Paper-Crafy Challenge Blog- Easter+

Papers and Such-Easter or Spring+

Anything Goes Challenge Blog-Easter+

Is anyone else having issues with Blogger?  Everything is different and I'm not sure if I did something to change it, or if it is Blogger that made all the changes. I'm having a hard time navigating through the posting, etc....I'm not the most computer savvy person and changes kinda freak me out!

Art Journal, Reach & Shine

Here are my art journal pages for the e-course that my friend has put together, this week our word was reach.  I took a quote from her course and made a page as well.  They didn't turn out how I envisioned, but I guess that's the beauty of art, it kind of takes on a life of it's own!

Card Patterns sketch 157

I used this sketch over at Card Patterns to make this cute card that I thought would be perfect for a baby shower/baby boy.  The cute image is from Bugaboo Stamps, a freebie I picked up a few weeks ago. Bugaboo has a new freebie each Friday and such adorable ones too!

Anyway, here is my card.  I think Theodore would be perfect for anything boy related!  I colored with copics and used some of my stash (Yay!)  The pattern papers are from Piggy Tales Hansel Collection and the orange is Bo Bunny.

It's Friday, my day off and I've been taking it easy today....did a lot of reading, did go on a walk, ran some errands, etc.  REALLY want to go see Hunger Games, but refuse to go on opening weekend.  I really don't like crowds and sitting next to complete strangers in a theater....I like to have my space and get my perfect seat and that is near impossible on the first day..so, I will exercise patience and wait for a few before I see it.  I've read the books and really enjoyed them and I've already heard good things about the movie.

Hope you all have a great and safe weekend!

This layout was based on this sketch over at Artful Delight, you should check it out and play along!!!

Ok, I'm out, I can't type quiet and the husband is getting annoyed! :/ ;)

Art Journaling pages

A very good online friend of mine, Leslie has written and e-course that is focused on Mind, Body, and Soul, and it is done through art journaling.  Now, I've never done art journaling at all, but had so much fun buying a few new bottles of paint and getting down and messy.  Leslie posts the assignment with several journaling prompts, and then we write and write and write until our hands are cramped from writing.  Then, what I've done, is take several key  words, or phrases, or maybe I will use a quote that Leslie has given us and put then in my art journal.  Here are my first 2 pages.

The clock stamp is from Unity, and I used it to remind myself that it is my time to believe and my time to dream. It is time to accept myself and be happy. I used colors that were fun and bright and made me happy. I seriously had so much fun with this!

So....what do you think?  Pretty cool idea?  Does it look like fun?  Well, you can still join in the course, a link to Leslie's blog and course are on the upper left corner of my sidebar, just click and check it out...you will be glad you did!!!

Patches of Pink Spring Link Up Party

The Spring Link Up Party is live over at Patches of Pink, so head on over and link up your recent Spring creations there, grab your linky button and spread the word.  We can't wait to see what you created, and we might even pick some favorites to feature later on Patches of Pink. :-)

The link-up party will end on Sunday, April 1st at 11:59pm EST. Go check out what the other members of the DT have created, visit their blogs and leave them some love!

Here is the card I made. All the elements came from a super cute digi kit from Shanna Vineyard.  I just printed out the images, popped up the envelope, popped up the O in enjoy and added the cute scalloped border.  I put glossy accents on the hearts (on the bird and the mailbox).  I placed the sun to hang a little bit off the card. I used distress inks in broken china and faded jeans for the top part and embossed the red bottom of the card with my dot embossing folder and my cuttlebug.  The word life was from tiny type Cosmo Cricut!  I love the way it turned out!  All of the images come already colored,  ready to print and create, or used in a digital program too.

Shanna is having a giveaway in celebration of her first digi kit and you should go here to check it out, and enter her giveaway. One way to enter is to create a project using her kit, so I'm heading over to do just that!

I've been online friends...(more like stalker ;)  of Shanna's for several years now and just absolutely love her designs! She does a lot of hand drawn/painted elements and her color combinations and designs are just plain happy, she is seriously talented!

Ok...so head over to Patches of Pink and link up your spring creations...then head over to Shanna's blog Art Made with Heart, and check out her giveaway!

Happy Thursday to ya!! ;)

Birthday card

I made this cute birthday card for a couple of challenges. The adorable penguin is from Bugaboo Stamps...it's so dang cute!  The shaped card is from Studio G that I picked up at Michaels, I cut pattern paper to cover it (it was brown) , the green frame I purchased online from Lettering Delights..( I think).  I colored with copics and used stickles and glossy accents on the ribbon and little cherry looking thing on top of the cupcake.  I think it turned out cute...I did have to redo it...I kind of bunked up the first one.  I hate when I do that.  Anyway, just a quick post....and I'm off to watch an episode of Medium. Gotta love Netflix!!  ;)

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Sentimental Sundays- Go Green or Recycle

Kaboodle Doodles- Show Us Some Green

Simon Says Stamps - Anything Goes

Sweet 16!

I came home and hurried to get this layout done, I am entering it into the Frosted Designs number challenge. I apologize for the not so great picture, I didn't have any natural light and with my camera on the tail end of it's life, I only have limited functions.  It looks SO much better in person, the colors are really vibrant and fun!  This was my Ash on her birthday, the sweet 16, oh, and the banner in the background of the picture is the one I made for her birthday party.  I used various pattern papers, Paisley cartridge for the sunglasses and cell phone, Rock Princess for the shoe and numbers.  I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!!

The cutest little donkey EVER!

I made this card with a free digi from meljens blog (the donkey) and am entering their orange challenge.   Then I used a sketch from Deconstructing Jen's blog .  I love how it turned out and the little donkey is so dang cute!

Here is my take on the sketch.  I used lots of orange, the cardstock was double sided Wild Asparagas that I've had FOREVER, I die cut the scallopy circle with my spellbinders die, used some ribbon, some black crytals, some orange crystals, the border punch is from Fiskars and then I colored with my copics!  The little banner says congratulations, don't know why I chose that sentiment, but it would be cute for a baby shower.

I also made a second card for my bff, when we make cards we always make two....one for each of us!  It's fun and keeps us with a small stash of cards.

If you want to play along click on the links and join the fun!!  :)

My baby's first date/dance!

This is Ashlie's first real date/dance, she asked someone to Preference and they have been having a blast!  They have a group of 12 total, and the girls made breakfast for the boys this morning, played mud football, paint twister......Ash came home caked with mud and paint.  That was fun trying to get clean...NOT.

Messy, but looks like they had fun.  The lone boy in red at the top of the hill, is Ashlie's date, he messed up his knee and is in a brace so he had to be the referee, scorekeeper and cheerleader!!  Poor kid!

Ashlie, all excited and ready to go!

I love her dress and the color looks really good on her and brings out the blue in her eyes!

Ash and her bestie. <-     and another one of Ash.

Professional pictures will come later, one of the girls is having her aunt take pictures of them all with their dates! Can't wait to see them!!

Cuteness in a bag!

Here are the bags that I made for Ashlie's birthday.  These are the bags that I left at each store, where she had to go find her gift. These are the bags that I had to throw together really quick and left until almost the last hour.  ACK!  Good thing they were fairly easy.  I had bought the die cut bags at my local craft store and decorated them with zebra pattern paper, then I embellished them with ALREADY made flowers, critters, monters, whatever else I had that would work!

And, there they are, 5 in all, they had gift cards from the stores tucked into the bag, I tied them with black ribbon and had some white scrunchy paper inside to hold the cards up and make it look all finished and pretty.

Here is my saving tip. All of the embellishments were already done.  I had made extras or made some flowers with scrap paper, so....when you have a few extra minutes here and there, crank out some images, flowers, embellishments, whatever you want, you never know when they might save your bacon!!!  :D
