Maki a Wish

I'm joining in on the sketch challenge over at Sugar Pea Designs, one big plus of doing a 30 day color challenge is that I've got a bunch of images all ready to put on a card and using a sketch just makes it that much easier!!

I used the Rice Rice Baby stamp set from Sugar Pea and this time used distress ink and watercolored the image, also stenciled the background, the orange enamel dots are NUVO Crystal Drops and are SO much fun to play with.

Well, I hope you like my card, I loved making it and that stamp set is so cute.....also, I just adore penguins!

You make life MAGICAL!

I played with another sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things and used images from the Magical Dragons stamp set.  I colored with my copics, the embossing cloud background is colored with copics as well and is done using an embossing folder from Darice.

I just love dragons and have since I was a young girl, I love anything in the fantasy genre and what could be more magical than sitting in the clouds with a dragon!! :)

Another book....

I am a sucker for any images that include readers or books and have been gathering them up whenever I can find them.  This is the latest book/reading themed image from Lisa Bloobel, you can find her ETSY shop HERE.  If you are looking for different, unique and quirky, that's a great place to start!

I made myself another bookmark, colored with copics and created the fun background with copics and colorless blender, added some fun bright pattern paper, some tulle and twine and laminated it for sturdiness.

.
A fun little side note...I found this floral frog when I was cleaning out some of my mom's things, she passed about a year ago and worked as a florist in my grandmothers shop for many years. I had seen others use similar items to prop their cards and had wanted one but never got around to finding out where to order them or even what they were called.....so it was a happy moment for me when I found this among her things!

You're my Penguin

Whew, it's been awhile and I actually felt like making a card today....lately my mojo has been gone and I don't feel like doing too much of anything crafty.  I've been coloring, but that's about it.  Today I was browsing for some inspiration and came across an easy sketch over at My Favorite Things and since I've got several new stamp sets from MFT, I decided to play.

The stamp set is Penguins in Paradise and this is the sketch.

and my card.  I colored with copics, the pattern paper is all from the Doodlebug Fun in the Sun pack, the sun and clouds are dies from Taylored Expressions.  I cut out a white oval and tore it to make the sand using Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain distress ink for color, the coconut is the Nuvo crystal drops in Walnut.

Chip n Dale

No.....not Chippendales as in the extremely hot male dancers.....  I'm talking Disney's Chip and Dale!  BIG DIFFERENCE!! ;)

It's been about a year since I took my kids to Disney, Ash wanted to mommy/daughter trip for her high school graduation and this was about a year later but we finally made it and we grabbed my son Jordan to go with as well.

This morning Ash and I wanted to search for characters to get as many pics as we could and these guys certainly were characters....they were so very funny and probably the best ones as far as personality!!

Everything I used was from Echo Park's Magical Kingdom kit which I purchased from Stamps Alive, forgive the crappy picture, just trying to get it done!  I also used the sketch from PageMaps July 2012. :)

Happy Holidays

It's been so stinkin hot here that I decided to work on a cool card and used this adorable Snowglobe Penguin from 2cuteink!  I love penguins and love snowglobes, so this image is just perfect!!

                                                                         Copics used:
          Penguin: C7,5,3,1
scarf: BG72, 70
YG06, 03
base: R39,37,35
Papers from The Paper Studio Santa & Friends 6x6 pad
Snowflake dies from Lawn Fawn
Enamel dot....diy with NUVO Caribbean Ocean

Nuvo Crystal Drops - Gloss Caribbean Ocean - Click to enlarge

I have to say that I bought about 7 different colors of these drops, just to give them a try, I really.....like really LOVE them.  I had some leftover laminated pages that I practiced dots on and they turned out perfect!!  I highly recommend them....you can make tiny ones, big ones, anything in between.  I just was really pleased with this product.   I will definitely purchase them again! :)

Mr & Mrs-MFT Camp Create

Hi there, back with my last card for this session of My Favorite Things Camp Create. This technique is called Shadow Stamping and it's really easy and has such a lovely result.  I used purples, just cuz I'm still in purple and grey mode from my daughter's wedding!  I love how it turned out and can totally see myself using this technique over and over, it's especially pretty with florals!

Grey Skies-MFT Dry Emboss

Another day of Camp Create from My Favorite Things and another technique I've never done (dry embossing with a die......and I call myself a paper crafter....(smh).  The past few days I've done techniques that I've always thought looked cool, but never tried, what the heck?  I know, I know......I'll repent of my naughty ways.  I mean part of the joy of this craft is learning new things, new techniques, new ways of doing old things.  I'm happy that I stumbled across Camp Create and even though time is short and I'm in one complete big fat mess, I'm committed to completing all 5 days and hopefully the bonus craft as well...(I ordered new stamps for that craft!! :D)

Here is my card using the dry emboss technique and after the first failed attempt, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

You are Fabulous! MFT Resist Technique

....and again, another technique that I'm not well practiced on, but one that is super fun!!  This is a resist technique and I used the Doodle Frames set from The Alley Way Stamps to create a collage of frames, clear embossed and then inked with Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Scattered Straw distress inks.  I added a little mint twine to match the mint heart on the bottom.

Totally fun, and I hope that I can keep up with the Camp Create over at My Favorite Things, I'm already a day behind and am gone this weekend... yikes!

MFT Day 2, OMBRE

I haven't done too much with the Ombre technique, guess this little Camp Create from My Favorite Things is really getting me out of my normal coloring/creating comfort zone!!

With this card, I tried (maybe not successfully) to create a background panel with a turquoise/aqua background, the elephant (Hippo Birdy from Taylored Expressions) is colored ombre using my copics in the C0-C7 range. The balloons are from Paper Smooches and are also colored ombre style with various colors.  I hope I did ok, as I really am new to this technique.....now maybe I'll just have to keep practicing and playing with all the fun new things I'm learning!!

My Favorite Things Camp Create-Monochromatic

This is my first time participating in MFT Camp Create and thought I would take time to play.  I am home from work today with some aches and general yucky feels, so what better time than to put a card together.

I usually don't ever do a monochromatic card, I love using lots of color and usually add a digital stamp as well.....oh and I hardly EVER use orange unless as an accent color not as the main one.  So, this was a little bit out of my zone, but think it turned out simple and cute!

I used the MFT Modern Blooms stamp and die set and some dies from MFT Blueprints #13.

I Will Never Forget You

Been super busy with wedding, moving, packing, cleaning and all the stuff/junk, time sucking activities that come with it.  I did make a card though, my friend and I are getting back to challenging each other with sketches and other themes to do about 3 cards a month and one layout.  We created a special pinterest board with our challenges and then we add our creations to the board as well.

So....my card here is created with a sketch that my friend Steph chose and then I used a color theme from my Pinterest Color Palette board

Sketch for the week of 8/1!! Have fun!!: Parchment, Lemon, Bright Green, Turquoise, Denim:

and my card features an image from Saturated Canary called DON'T FORGET  It's so cute!! I love the little elephant and colored it up with my copics, did a little inking around the edges with ink from Simon Says Stamp and then followed the sketch and color theme.

To Have and to Hold

So.........it's been awhile since I've blogged, I've been super busy with wedding planning for my daughter, we are now down to one week people! One week from now she will be a MRS!!

So my grandmother asked me to make her a card for her to give to the bride and groom and I used this gorgous image from All Dressed Up.  So perfect and yummy!  It's been awhile since I've made a card, I have been coloring, just so I don't give up everything during this crazy time, I mean I still do NEED color therapy!  I tried to make the groom a little darker, but my colors kept gunking up, so had to make do and hope it works.

Happy Memory SOS Challenge

Hi everyone, I'm back with my last layout as a guest designer over at Scrap Our Stash!!  If you haven't checked out their challenge blog, I highly encourage you to, they have two challenges per month and they are both fabulous.  The first challenge is based on a book cover and the second challenge is a sketch +3, there are 3 columns and 3 rows and you choose one from each column to use on the page.

Here is the sketch for this challege, and I chose to use Magenta, Yellow and an overlay.  So fun and super cute!!

 Here is my layout:

I love the sketch and love choosing three different embellishments or supplies to create my layout.  It really makes it easy to put together when you have in mind the design and colors already to go!

This picture was of our Disney trip last September, Ash and I had to have our picture taken with Minnie, which was perfect as I was wearing my Minnie shirt that day!  We had a blast and this is usually how I start off my Project Life pages, with one main layout for each section to highlight some favorite pictures.

We are up with Day 4 of the new release over at Some Odd Girl which is Build a Background, it is full of mushrooms, bushes, and trees, all fun things to create amazing backgrounds and scenes.

I had fun creating another art journal page and love this quote, I think it goes perfectly with the fishing gnome and girl gnome, I just imagine a pile of books next to her as she sits and reads for hours while her sweetie fishes the day away!  ;)

Day two of the new release over at Some Odd Girl and we have this cutie to showcase!  I have a fisherman in my life and this is just the cutest image ever, this will be perfect for a birthday card or a thinking of you...I think the next time I use this image I will use the sentiment "You're a great Catch"  :D

I colored with copics, used mostly cardstock, and a couple charms attached my fishing line and tiny staples.

I hope you like and will stop by the Some Odd Girl for more inspiration!

Uniquely You

I'm so excited to be the May Guest Designer at Scrap Our Stash!  Scrapbooking has been a love of mine for more than 25 years, I've been making cards a lot lately but am trying to get back to getting my pictures in albums!  I am so happy to have come across the Scrap Our Stash challenge blog that is specifically for scrapping.  I'm an avid reader and the 1st challenge of the month is inspired by a book cover.....LOVE that!!

So here is my layout, the inspiration picture is below and a little bit of a description below that!

The layers of color in the sunset inspired the background where I added paint and ink to tone down the light purple and leave streaks similar to the sunset.  I used coral, pink, lavendar, yellow and a light teal for the colors.  I found this picture of my daughter which was perfect to go with the flower requirement, and added a black and white daisy pattern paper that I tinted using my copic markers, and then I have hearts running down the right side of the paper, inspired by the big heart on the book cover. Such a fun book cover and I can't wait to see what you all create!
