This past week has been a little busy/crazy....Steve and I went to LA to visit his daughter in the hospital, we ended up getting lost twice on the way to our hotel at 10 at night. We ended up in downtown LA caught in the maze of high rises and backstreets, then we finally got to our hotel.........(seriously we were bordering Compton......not a great place & I'm never letting Steve book our hotel again) by the time we got to the hotel, my nerves were so shot and I was so uptight I thought I'd never get to sleep, but coming down from that adrenaline rush must have wiped me out, cuz I slept really good. The hotel was really bad, I mean bad, and that's all I'm going to say...I'm still trying to block that memory out! Then the difficult stay with my step-daughter, watching her as sick as she is and then two days later having to leave, talk about hard. Plus, that LA traffic is a nightmare, we almost got hit for serious twice and had some close calls several other times. I was so grateful to get home and out of that rat race.
Back home we got right into school registration, class changes, school shopping and all the time I was just wanting to carve out some space and time to sit and create. I finally got that time and finished up these cute cards!
I made several cards using the Happy Hippo image from SKdigis, they are all about the same style & design, but with a few differences on each one. I paper pieced the hippo and either put googly eyes on some, or traced and cut out white ones and put a drop of black enamel accents for the center of the eye. I cut the water and the bushes from Create a Critter-accessories for the hippo, all was matted on kraft, then black, then another color. I printed out the sayings and used HUGE or TON in the sentiment...anything using those words are perfect for a Hippo!!! I used my grey copic C7 to color in the ears, mouth, toes, and spots, then added white line detail with my white pen from Ranger. I added ribbon, flowers, photo corners and finished the inside with a coordinating strip of paper with another bush or two. So......here they are, six in all!!
I love how they turned out, and how stinkin cute is that hippo!! Please go check out SKdigis for some fun digital stamps and backgrounds!
